Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great movie with both animation and live parts!
Our Friend, Martin is about four kids, Miles,(the one of the main characters) Maria, Carl, and Randy. (Miles' best friend) First, Miles and his whole school go for a trip to a museum that was once Martin Luther King Jr.'s home. When they reach Martin's room, a picture frame flashes while no one is looking. Miles and Randy wants to go in the room, and secretly goes inside, but get caught from the guide. The guide finally says that it's fine for them to go inside, so Miles and Randy go inside. Before the guide leaves, she winds a watch. Miles and Randy look around and Miles (who loves baseball) holds Martin's old baseball glove. Immediately, the baseball begins to flash and Randy and Miles hold onto it. The baseball takes them to a magical trip back to Martin Luther King Jr.'s time.
Miles and Randy land on a baseball field and find out that Martin and two white boys are playing baseball. They introduce themselves and play baseball until... the two white boy's mother comes and says not to play with black people. Miles and Randy get angry, but Martin says that being angry is no use and they shouldn't get angry. Just then, Martin's father comes to pick Martin up, and Martin leaves, forgetting his baseball glove. As Miles calls Martin back and holds the glove, again the glove brings them to another time in Martin's life.
Miles and Randy find themselves sitting on a train. Across them is Martin, only older. In the train, they see that the train is divided into two parts, Whites and Negroes. Martin brings Randy and Miles to his home. In Martin's room, there is the baseball glove again. Miles and Randy pick it up, and they go to an older part of Martin's life when he is a reverend. While they are there, the White Americans attacked Martin's house and it was smashed into pieces. Martin tells the protesting black Americans to forgive the White Americans.
Miles and Randy move to another time when the Black Americans are protesting at the white Americans. The White Americans attack the Black Americans. Again, Miles and Randy return to the musuem.
The next day, Miles and Randy know a lot about Martin Luther King Jr, and Maria (the snobby and smartest student in the class) and Carl realize something wrong with Miles and Randy. They go to the musuem, spying on Miles and Randy, but the guide finds them and tell them to go in by the door when Carl and Maria try to open a window by a branch. Finally, when they reach Martin's room, they see Miles and Randy. Before Maria goes up to Martin's room, the guide tells her to wind a watch. When Maria winds the watch, Carl sinks into a picture while leaning on to it. The others follow, landing on the March to Washington, hearing Martin Luther King Jr. make a speech. They return back to the musuem. While they go back to the entrance, they see that Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated. They want to help him and go back to the past. They bring Martin Luther King Jr. to the future, but instead of the future, Miles' hometown is brought back to the past. Miles gets into fights with his best friend and Carl, and everthing is wrong. How would everthing be fine again? Watch on~ I can't tell you everything! Happy Watching too!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Meeting Dr. King
Excellent use of live-action historical footage mixed with animation. Traces Martin Luther King's influence on American history. Graphic images depicting racist behavior is best viewed with adults. Stellar cast, voices of Oprah Winfrey, John Travolta and others. Impressive. Many children were not aware of the content. "This video taught us to respect other people, not hate each other because of color." "It taught me a lot of history, and it was sad." "I liked when they time-traveled." Best for ages 12 to 18.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A VERY WELL DONE, CHILD(AND ADULT)FRIENDLY MOVIE!
This story Martin Luther King, Jr. and the civil rights movement is alive, fresh, informative as well as entertaining. It succeeds in telling his story truthfully without a lot of sugarcoat or dogma, as most King's storys are sometimes told. The mixture of actual live footage and animation is very effective. This video is a definate must have!
