For anyone familiar with the first incarnation of MCSR, part 2 will be just like getting back onto a bike again... literally - as motorbikes make their much anticipated debut in Midnight Club.Outside of the graphical facelift (new textures, higher polygon count, improved damage effects) and overall area expansion of level environments, the inclusion of motorcycles is one of two major changes/improvements in the game. The effect of introducing two-wheelers into this outlaw four-wheel world will seem reminiscent of Vice City for those with an intimate knowledge of GTA. The bikes are a LOT more fun to ride, AND crash... but you'll take a bigger hit to your health. This adds a new and welcome layer of strategy to the game. The other major addition to V.2 of MCSR is the ability to compete online via the PS2 Network Adapter. I haven't had the pleasure yet, the concept alone prompted me to check how many sick days I had left at work. (I know, it's sad.) Some story based progression is folded into the gameplay but as with the first volume, gamers may approach the environments as open ended with no set path to follow. Rockstar San Diego invented the 'underground racing' game, so they were smart enough to recognize that they didn't need to break the genre mold with Midnight Club 2. Luckily for us, they were also smart enough to re-cast it in a considerably deeper and more streamlined form.
