The first time I played this system, my jaw dropped. I found the graphics, sounds, textures, colors, and speed too breathtaking to behold. Since the first time I played it, I've purchased well over a hundred games (almost all of the games for the system). To this day, I can't stand to hear anyone bash this system. Dreamcast revolutionized the gaming industry. As with all of Sega's consoles (Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast), they have taken the pioneering approach to video games. Always the first to put their foot in the door, they snagged my loyalty from the start. PS2 is a good system. I'm not here to bash it. All systems have their good qualities and bad ones (ie. Dreamcast-slow down in high action parts of game/ PS2-seemingly eternal loading time). Sony has made a monster in that PS2. Graphically it is incredible. However, I'm not much impressed. I've played many of the games for the system, and frankly speaking, they a too lacking in long-term fun. I've found that the PS2 games I've played (NBA STREET, ONIMUSHA, KESSEN, DARK CLOUD, ATV OFFROAD FURY, and many more) have been fun for a few hours, then they loose their touch. I'm personally not big on the idea of paying $50 for three hours of gamming fun. On the dreamcast, I've found myself playing one game around the time I need to get to sleep, saying, "just a few more minutes," and when I turn it off, The sun is about to come up. Quite litteraly, the games for dreamcast will keep you playing for hours. Why? Because they're that enjoyable. PS2 has a promising future. With Sega making games for their system, I see great things in the future for PS2 owners. And for those of you who only comment on this system to bash it.....Shame on You! This machine is a work of art, and it should be forever remembered as the first system to go beyond the games.
Rating: - A work of art.
It's a shame really, how not too many people invested in this great system. Why didn't people invest? I have a few reasons. 1. Games: The inital Dreamcast games were not all that good, (except Sonic) and were greeted with mixed reviews, giving the Dreamcast little credibility. Thus, low sales. 2. Bitterness: The bitterness between Sega and it's former fans. These fans were scared off because of Sega's history of not supporting a system for very long. Sega's previous system, the Sega Saturn, failed due to Sega's incompetence of supporting the Saturn with a large selection of games. Mostly because of bad marketing and hardly any third party support. 3. PS2: With the upcoming arrival of the Playstaion 2, gamers were saving their $$$ for a PS2 instead of "wasting it" on a Dreamcast. Now the Dreamcast is slowly dying and the company has halted the manufacturing of new Dreamcast consoles. Sadly, there are only somewhere around 20 more games to be released, (good ones at that!) including titles like NFL2K2. I have had the pleasure of owning a Dreamcast and have played some great games for the console. The graphics on this thing are amazing, almost all the games are superb, and LOTS of them are breathtaking (NFL2K1, Sonic, HOTD2 ect.). In conclusion, if a PS2 is too expensive for you, right now is a good time to buy a Dreamcast. Although the amount new games are becoming fewer and fewer, the old ones are selling at GREAT prices. So instead of having a PS2 and maybe one or two expensive games for it, you could own a Dreamcast and have many. LONG LIVE DREAMCAST!

It's no secret that Sega has stopped making Dreamcasts. However, some are under the impression that they will also stopped making Dreamcast games, and this is not true. The Sega Dreamcast, which is graphically more impressive than the overhyped PS2, is probably the greatest gaming system on the planet. I could go on and on about how awesome this machine is, but I think the games speak for themselves:Soul Caliber- The greatest fighting game ever, that blows away even the likes of Tekken Tag for Sony's PS2. NFL2K1- A superior, online football game that is pure bliss. Jet Grind Radio- Before you get Tony Hawk's Pro Skater simulation, check out this hip, musically inspired skater/spraypainter. Creative, fresh, and fun, this is, by far, my favorite dreamcast game...well, next to Phantasy Star Online- A 3D Diablo/Everquest of epic proportions. Addicting, online, fast, and downright fun, this game is probably the epidimy of Sonic Team videogames. Shenmue- Complete interactivity, lush environments, and a heart renching story driven cinematically in a Spielburg-esque style. Awesome. Quake 3- A 3D shooter that is not only online, but just as good as it's PC counterpart on an average computer system. The fact that the Dreamcast can even run this game at such a high speed on 56k modems is amazing, but keeping it fun and frenetic at the same time just shows how amazing those developers at Sega are. Seaman- Geez. Don't knock it till you try it. This game features a talking fish which you raise and have conversations with. You'd be surprised the conversations your gonna have. Careful though, you might forget it's just a game... Daytona 2001 Online- Daytona arcade racing online. Nuff said. Let me not forget Unreal Tournament, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Crazi Taxi, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Sonic Adventure, and many others. There are simply too many Sega games to name. If you pass up a Dreamcast, especially at the low prices they are going for, you will be missing out on probably the greatest system of all time. Happy gaming...
