Rating:  - The best driving you can experience wihtout a real car
This is an excellent game. It's got superb graphics. It's got great sound. The simulation mode physics are impeccable. The animation is smooth, fluid and lifelike. It's almost as good as driving a real car. That's why I love it and give it five stars. But this same realism comes at a price. The game is not easy -- even in arcade mode. If you're not careful you're off the track and you've lost the race (just like in real life). To really appreciate GT3, you need to dedicate some time to taking the driving tests in the game. Completing the tests will earn you licenses so you can race "professionally." For anyone who has mastered GT2, this should be no problem. In any case, you need to acquire these licenses to "unlock" portions of the game. Bottom line: if you liked GT or GT2 I highly recommend GT3. It's simply the best pure driving game I've ever played. And it's the most realistic driving simulation I've ever seen on a console. If, however, you are looking for a quick, fun and easy to learn car based game, I don't think GT3 is for you. Check out Crazy Taxi (another great game) instead.

I can't stop playing it. My wife wishes she never would have bought me the play station 2 console. I love to show the replays to freinds who never play video games, they are astounded by the beauty. The only problem is trying to get the licences, its diving me crazy. Up until ps 2 I never played video games, I would buy new consoles and give them away because I thought they were too cheesy. But this game Rocks! I bought the system, a 53 inch high def, awesome surround, gt force wheel and I'm in heaven.
Rating: - Great Racing Game
Gran Turismo 3 is the new and beautiful new racing game for the PS2 game console. It has many advanced features that put it at the top of anybody's race car game list (thats if anybody has one). It has the most gorgeous graphics of any car game to date, a whopping 5000 polygons a car! It is said that each car took 2 weeks to a month to render, which is what caused that long delay. Graphics: One word: Gorgeous. From the sleek designs of all the cars to the dirt that picks up as you race at 90mph on a dirt road in your new rally car against your worst (best) foe (friend). The lighting effects are extraodinary, from the sun beaming through the trees overhanging the road, to the lights on the cars, to the reflections on the cars, its all just comes together in an elegant stream of flashing lights on your tv screen. Sound: Fantastic. The unique sound of every car revving its engine, form the Volkswagon Beetle to the 'Vette, its just magnificent. And what a soundtrack does the game have, from Snoop Dog to some good ol' punk rock, you can select your favorite songs from the long, long list of songs on the playlist. The one thing missing is those drivers groans when u smash them at 150mph on a straightaway right into a corner as a little cusion as you are going around the hairpin. Gameplay: Whats better than starting out with a Mazda Miata and then getting farther along in the game and getting a souped-up, 1000hp (I love it!) Lexis? Isnt that just the greatest feeling in the world? There are so many different decisions that drivers can make in the game, such as things to add to the car, that can completely change the outcome of a race and what you will be able to purchase in the future. Should you purchase a turbo early and add maybe 50hp to your engine now? or wait until later to put it on a more expensive car. This leads a vast number of things to explore, which gives the game great replay value, that is the desire to play the game over and over again even after beating the game numerous times. There are many different things to do, such as play in arcade mode and just practice, or go head to head with a friend, or just have fun racing the computer. In simulation you begin your career racing cars you never believed would be in your "garage". You can also race in so-called "endurance races" in which you can race the many different computer controlled cars in a 500 lap race, which can last up to 5 hours, depending on how well you do and what track. You may want to pause and take a little break, unless you end up completely plugged into the game like my father. Then may God have mercy on your soul. That just shows how much a bunch of really fast flashing lights can affects ones mind.(lol!) Now im going to talk a little about to artificial intelligence in the game, that is the computer-controlled rracers. You may have heard the complaints that the computer is a joke, but that is only coming from the people that have hardly got into the game. Sure the computer is very easy in the EASY tracks, but once you move up into the harder courses, the computer takes on a mind of its own. It will attempt to smash me into the wall making me skid out of control sometimes. I must say one thing that bugs me about the game is that there is never actually and damage to the car, other than the tires that need to be replaced every maybe 4 laps, but thats only if you turn that option on. Conclusion: This is an excellent game for any race car fan, any multiplayer fan, anybody who has liked the previous Gran Turismo Games, and anyone that hasnt. It is pretty much for anybody who owns the PS2 computer entertainment system, and is pretty much the best car game out there. It is for all people who knows they will never be able to afford that $300,000 car, who wont be able to soop it up to 1000hp, and those of you who just want to burn some rubber in Rome. It is a great buy, and if your contemplating on whether to purchse this or Red Faction, which is probably the best 1st person shooter out, my reccomendation is to buy Gran Turismo, and wait for Metal Gear Solid 2, which is going to be explosive, and your going to need one of the fast cars in this game to get to the store before it sells out in the brief probably 10 minutes the store opens.
