i'm going to talk more about the tekken franchise in general than tekken4 specifically. to read about all the new advancements in this franchise's most recent incarnation, look to other reviews.fighting games are easly my favorite type of videogame. i've played and owned them all. from street fighter 2 to doa3... my all-time favorite franchise is EASILY tekken, and tekken4 definately raises the bar for the whole genre. i'm not such a total fanboy that i dont appreciate other games. Dead or Alive 3 and Virtua Fighter 4 are both good games in their own respects (especially vf4) but tekken4 blows them both out of the water. tekken is a game that a beginer can easily pick up and play (the button mashers) but the game is very deep and to truely master a character (let alone all the characters) takes a massive amount of practice. once you fully grasp a character, the moves come intuituvely and fluidly. instead of just hitting buttons, you react as if you were indeed the character you are controlling. watching two players who have mastered their characters fight against eachother is truely a beautiful thing. in the interest of brevity i will try to stop here, suffice to say that tekken4 is truely the greatest fighter ever created that can be enjoyed by both beginers and veterans. Rating: - Great follow-up
I've been following and playing the Tekken series from Tekken 2 on up to the new Tekken 4. I won't be one of those saps that will challenge everybody on Amazon.com as they read this, for I know I'm good at the game and I'm pretty sure you are too. I just want to point out that Tekken 4 is so much better than Tekken 3, in terms of gameplay, music and sounds, environments, and story endings. The only drawback is that Tekken 4 does not have as many characters as Tekken Tag. I've tried to play other fighting games, but Tekken is without a doubt, the best fighting game around, and no other game compares. Learning wall strategy and the new sidestep and block techniques may be tricky at first (if you haven't played at the arcade), but dedicated gamers will learn this within 1 to 2 weeks at best. I've noticed that the computer AI is much smarter than in previous Tekkens, especially with Tekken Force. The Practice mode is unbelievable, because now you can command your computer opponent to perform a move in three different intervals, and practice blocking, evading, and countering it!!! I guarantee that this is a game you don't even have to rent first before you buy, because if you do, you may experience a "lackadaisical" attitude in taking it back to the video store. GET THIS GAME - YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!! - AWB
Rating: - Tekken could be better
This game has exellent graphics and such and such, but there's not a whole lot to do though Pros: Some of the best graphics i've ever seene same ol' controlls, great gameplay Tekken force is back with a diffrent name beautiful backrounds Very detailed There's enough modes to last Theater mode has improved Great voice acting U can beat someone up on the wall, and kill em' must I say anything about the girls Storymode is a new feature, well not that new Cons: No tag mode When something breaks, it looks fake Less selectable characters for tag Few new cahracters Not much to unlock It seems as though nothins new, makin it only look like a beter Takken 3 No new modes like Tekken Ball or bowl Overcomplicated story who the hell's the winner And it's a bit slower than Tekken 3 and Tag Overall:It's as not as good as Tekken Tag, but it's still a great game. Vurtua Fighter 4 and Tekken 4 are the best fighting games of this year
