Average Rating: Rating: - The Novelty Wears Thin... ...after playing for a few hours. If you have the time to waste and have absolutely nothing to do with your life, this "game" is for you. Ah well, perhaps we ask for too much. To be fair, the animation and personalities of the Sims are pretty lifelike and truly amazing. Perhaps so amazing that we are surprised by their limitations. Although an improvement on the original Sims game, this enhancement is surprisingly limited in its offerings. I do like the new textures, objects, heads, and bodies. The robot is cool but you have to make your little Sims charactors turn it on. The cool thing is that the robot replaces your maid, your gardener, and the repair man, and the refrigerator as well. For 15,000 Simolians, it better. The cockroaches are just downright annoying as is the accompanying screams of disgust by the Sims as they stoop futilly into exhaustion, ignoring need for shower, enjoyment, social activity, and work. Things that remain the same: no matter how many bathrooms you put into your house, the Sims will all crowd into one and then pee on the floor, stand there and wave their arms and scream and yell. Hmmm... Sometimes they will all get stuck and eventually starve to death. Actually the most interesting things are the incidents that don't happen often -- like all of the Sims catching a cold and dying rather quickly and alarmingly. Surprisingly, there are still only four roof textures to choose from and only three roof pitches and only one style. We still can't put windows on angled walls. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all still the same brown & green plate of food (Accept for the salads and the light meals). The kids are limited by the fact that they get sent to military school (and nobody seems to care when they leave) rather than turn into juvenile delinquents. I have always felt that they should turn into teenagers after a time, and then adults, and be forced to get low paying jobs at fast food restaurants and be given the option of earning a GED. Currrently, their dialog ranges from unbearably cute to absolutely annoying. I would have expected some curved walls in the build mode, more roof choices, walls that perhaps came with a color palate. Having the option of a basement, or attic would be nice. The Mac versions of these games are rather limited by comparison to the PC versions. The downloads don't seem to work for the Mac by itself. People have said that it will work but you still need a PC to download the items. Many of us only have one computer so it really doesn't help. We are also deprived of the face and body editor, etc. I would say that the best way to enjoy this game is to build the house, create the charactors, get them jobs, put it on fast mode, and then walk away and go about your life, go out with friends, etc. Check on it a few hours (or days!) later and see what developes. Sure, buy it. If you like games that NEVER END and require endless time to improve the quality of life of your little Sim families, you'll love it. If you are totally twisted and want to see the lives of the little Sims get ruined, you will love it too. Something for everyone if you have the time to waste. After i played the sims for a long time, just going to work and going to bed gets pretty boring until I pressed ctrl+shift+the button left of the space bar+c and then typed rosebud. I got a million bucks!!!!!!! Yes all the time I had been typing klapaucius hoping for millions but now i got it with rosebud(mac). Overall if you like games such as the sim city series get this game. You'll love the sims. Rating: - Awesome Game! I think that this is an awesome game. If you like The Sims then this game will be your favorite. You get plenty of new items to choose from to build and furnish your house, and you get 50 new lots! The new careers are pretty cool. This is the perfect game if you are looking for one to get addicted to!
