Average Rating: Rating: - Update on previous review about this item I wrote a review 12/18/02 about this toy the night I bought it. I now want to say that it is definately worth it. I don't know what people r saying about it that r bad but it is one of the best items I have bought for my son. I have had it now for over a month and use it every night and haven't had to change the batteries yet. I do agree that I wish the bubbling played longer than 5 mins. because my son loves that setting more than the others but most of the time he is asleep by the time it goes off. The motor is not too loud at all either. I am glad I didn't listen to most of these bad reviews about it and finally bought it. Rating: - *A MUST* HAVE FOR YOUR BABY'S CRIB! I bought this toy for my son's crib when we moved him into his own room in his crib at 6 months old. He took to his crib very well and his new room. 2 nights of yucky sleep is all we dealt with. After that it was smooth sailing. It definitely helped having this toy in his crib enabling him to adjust better and faster. It attaches to the rail by 2 straps that has 3 different levels you can put it on as per the crib mattress When the mattress was high, the toy was lower so he can get it. Now, it's at it's highest because the mattress is at it's lowest. I don't want it too low and him to kick it accidentally while he is sleeping. It has 1 lever that my son pushes down on and it makes a fish move, then the ball when touched/moved/hit can make the starfish move. It has a wonderful volume control for the perfect level you want it to stay. It's a visual of the ocean floor with green/blue waves and design with fish and starfish. Really beautiful to look at. It has 3 water effects you can choose from: rain, ocean waves, and a stream. It has 3 musical settings you can choose from: 2 are lullabies and the other is a song they made up on their own. Kind of cool melody to it and uppity. The light-show is really cute. People are saying there should be green, blue, and white lights. Well, yes in a way, but what it is exactly is a white light that moves slowly across the length of the ocean floor which is green and blue in color-hence the effect of blue & green lights. The lights stay within the toy and not on the ceiling. No biggie. The size is bigger then the original one that looked like an oval fishbowl. The design is really nice too! This takes 4 D batteries. They lasted since I got it when my Son was 6 months. He is now 10 1/2 months. So, they lasted almost 5 months, which is good for how much he uses it. The price was really good and worth the money. My son loves this toy. It occupies him and stimulates him. It's a fun toy to look at by visually stimulating the baby. When he wakes up from his naps, he stays in his crib playing with this toy between 20-35 minutes!! That's a Godsend in my book! Hey, time flies when you're having fun! I don't want to even go in there and get him, because he plays so nicely with it. He lets me know when he's ready for me to get him. He turns it on all by himself and learned how when he 1st got it. He knows to touch the 2 levers to make fish move. It stops it when he wants to and turns it back on. What's funny is...when he wakes up in the morning from sleeping all night, he will talk and babble and jump around-- just having fun. BUT when he wants us to get him, he will turn on this toy to "summon" us and he will let out a "Maaaaaaaaa". Too funny!! So, it's a "summoning" machine for mommy & daddy too! We know in the morning when we hear that music, he had enough of his crib. YET, in the afternoons after his 2 naps, he plays with it alone for such a long time. He loves it! It's even great for when I put him in the crib so I can put a load of laundry in the washer or do something around the house, or just be "close" with the hubby. Picture being "close" and hearing aquatic music and sounds through the monitor. Too funny. Anyway, overall this is a really good product because it visually & musically stimulates and entertains my son. Plus lets me have "me" time alone knowing he is safe in the crib having a ball under the sea. I highly recommend getting this. You and baby won't be disappointed. Rating: - Wish they still made Peaceful Planet** I recently bought my daughter this toy after her peaceful planet died, and what a waste of money. The PP was calming and had wonderful soothing bubbles, and the lights on the ceiling were great even for older children. This new version is too loud for anyone to fall asleep to and the motor over powers the sound of the bubbles. There is no lights for the ceiling and the "interactive" toys are boring for a child over six months. Fisher Price should have never discontinued the original !!!!
