Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good rockin' tonight!
I can't stop listening to this album. When I first heard "Take It Off" on Jay Leno's Tonight Show before "Spend the Night" was released, I couldn't wait to hear the whole album. The entire album rocks hard, and you can hear how The Donnas have developed. Donna A's voice sounds more "mature" if you will. Donna R's guitar riffs are awesome, and Donna F and Donna C pound hard on the rhythm section. Lyrically, the band gets better and better. My personal favorites: "Take It Off", "Too Bad About Your Girl", and "It's On The Rocks". Definitely worth buying. A great CD to blast in your car!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rock Rock Rock N Roll
If I could give it six stars, I would. This CD is unlike anything you've ever heard before. It's the Donnas at their absolute best (yet). "Spend the Night" shows the amazing progression of guitarist Donna R since the days of the s/t album. Donna C on drums and Donna F on bass keep things grounded with a steady beat and Donna A exhibits a vocal range never heard before. The production is great and every song is as big as it can get. While it's apparent the young ladies have matured greatly as musicians it's good to know that they still sing about the same great stuff. Tracks like "It's on the Rocks," "Dirty Denim" and "Not the One" put guys in their place. And if you're looking for an awesome guitar solo you'll find it in "5 O'Clock in the Morning." Great lyrics, catchy riffs and fist pumping rock and roll anthems. This CD is not to be missed!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Pleasant Surprise.
I first heard the Donnas when I bought their first LP on Superteem records. I loved that record. It was raw, fast, catchy, and fun. It had hints of the Ramones, early rock and roll, and 80s rock all mixed in. Then, with each release, the sound became tired and boring, yet the press lapped up each release with a little more hype. I was convinced that this hype has less to to with the music and more to do with the fact that the Donnas are hot. I even made a comment on the Donnas website messageboard that the only reason that they were on Atlantic was because the label thought they were hot and were looking for a female Blink-182 to market to teenage boys. While I still believe that is the motive of Atlantic (its my major label skepticism) there is no denying that this CD is awesome. Catchy rock and roll at its best. Hints of 80s metal like Ratt and Twisted Sister, tied together with a Ramones inspired simplicity that makes the album silly without being stupid. If you are sick of the neo-Blink-182 stuff that the labels are shoving down our throats, buy this CD.
