Madonna's theme song for "Die another day" is also one of her best singles to date. The original version has a catchy electro-funk beat that recalls the best tracks from her last album "Music". It is also the first Bond theme song ever to be a full-fledged dance song. This single contains 5 other remixes, all of which have their own unique styles. Track #2: "Dirty Vegas Main Mix" is remixed by the group that hit it big recently with "Days Go By" from the Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial. Like that song, this remix is given a thumping, relentless house beat that is easy on the ears. Track #3: "Thee Retrolectro Mix" by Felix Da Housecat is a stomping neo-disco number with Madonna's vocals filtered through a vocoder. Very 2002, and retro-hip. Track #4: "Thunderpuss Club Mix" is the type of more standard Madonna dance remix. Thunderpuss also remixed "American Pie", "Don't Tell Me" and "Music", and therefore this version should be very familiar to all Madonna fans. Track #5: "Deepsky Remix". This stays true to the original version, adding a harder beat but with the vocals intact. Track #6: "Brother Brown's Bond Age Club mix", a French House remix that sounds very much like Madonna from the '80s. Overall, one of the year's best singles. Madonna has done it again, showing she only improves with age. RECOMMENDED!
Rating: - It's not her time to go!
"It's not my time to go" says Madonna in her new single, Die Another Day. And it certainly isn't. At times when music [is bad], Madonna comes with something fresh that sounds like nothing else on the radio. Die Another Day, the new James Bond movie theme song, is a great song. The lyrics, the production, the vocal effects, everything's perfect. And the video! Have you guys (and gals) seen the video? Madonna is in such physical conditions... It's amazing, almost unbelievable how she does what she does. The maxi single includes 6 remixes of the song. Standout remixes for me are: 3. Thee RetroLectro Mix- It sounds like it was perfectly done to coincide with the time this single was released. It's got such a Halloween sounding groove/vibe. Really good! To me this is the best remix on the maxi single. #5 (Deepsky Remix) and #6 (Brother Brown's Bond-Age Club) are also really good. I must admit Thunderpuss kind of surprised me. I have never been a big fan of them. And their Club Mix of Die Another Day isn't that good, but it's definitely better than I expected it to be. There's something about the way they mixed the song in the middle (with all those uh's together) and the laughing that made me enjoy their mix. I would recommend this maxi single to anyone who likes Madonna and/or good music. Anyone who enjoys what sounds on the clubs will enjoy this.
Rating: - Madonna LIVES on Forever in Perfection...
Well, Madonna returns with a new song after a very LONG wait ("What It Feels Like For A Girl" single -beginning of 2001) and proves that she is ALWAYS worth the wait. This time she is a swirl of her entire career. "Die Another Day" is the perfect mix of some of her biggest songs. It has the dancefloor urgency beats of "Music", the over-the-top explosion of orchestra of "Papa Don't Preach", the insane vocal distortions of "Impressive Instant", the strong poetic lyrics of "Rescue Me", and the errie depth of "Paradise (Not For Me)". The single has some of the best remixes heard all year by any artist (big surprise, huh?). Some of the high points (other than the amazing radio edit) are, Felix Da Housecat's "Thee Retrolectro Mix" which is unlike the album version in almost everyway. It contains spoken vocals of some of the lyrics and the music sounds like it could be played in an underground goth club. Dirty Vegas' mix is like a more high energy club mix of the origonal album version (surprisingly it isnt softer due to Dity Vegas' wonderful but soft debut album). Deep Sky's version seems like a more electronic copy of Dirty Vegas' version but is still great in its own realm. Ah, and then there's the Thunderpuss mix. Theyre 2 of the most creative remixers I have ever heard. Well, this time it seems like creativity went down the toilet. I have never been so bored by a Madonna remix (unless it was a pointlessly made booteg mix) as I was by this mix. That remix will NEVER grow on me. WHEW! Finally, we're backto the better mixes with the last remix. This was done by Brother Brown who is new to me, but i can honestly say, I like his work alot. His remix i close to the origonal but its more club bassy. It has more bounce, yes, bounce is the word. It would be a fun mix to dance to. So, there you have it, my overly desriptive view on how I felt about this song and it's remixes. So, minus Thunderpuss (sadly), here is Madonna at her best.
