Rating: - OH MY GOODNESS
I first heard of Chevelle a couple of years ago after "Point #1" came out. I liked a song or two off of that cd, but it didn't really stick with me. Then "The Red" came out, and I downloaded "Comfortable Liar" (incredible song), and I knew I'd be picking this up the day it came out. I haven't stopped listening to it since. The production on this album is far better than that of their first. The recording captures all of the nuances of their music, and takes Pete Loeffler's voice to another level. A lot of these songs would fit right in on modern rock radio, but don't be decieved, THIS IS NOT THE SAME OLD [stuff] YOU HEAR ON MTV EVERYDAY! There's something else going on here. Chevelle somehow manages to capture an emotion and energy in their music that most new rock bands can only attempt to grasp. Question: They're not a "Christian band" per se, but they are Christians, right? I think so. Best tracks: "Family System" "Comfortable Liar" "Closure"(it builds up to the most perfectly violent ending, and if you listen, you can hear glass shattering in the mix) "Grab Thy Hand" and "One Lonely Visitor."
Rating: - WHY DON'T WE HEAR ABOUT THIS ARTIST MORE!!??
This CD is really amazing! I play it everyday, have done so for a while, and I still don't get tired of it.The music sounds really heavy and dark at times, yet vulgarity is nonexistant in this album! 1. Family System - Powerful song! It rocks! 2. Comfortable Liar - Probably my 3rd favorite song on the track! At times I feel as if I can personally identify with what he is saying. lol 3. Send the Pain Below - This is the song that brought me to find this artist-- A+++++++ 4. Closure - Good song as well, a little different the the first 3 in that it is a little less hevy, although Snd the Pain below is not terribly heavy like Comfortable Liar is. 5. The Red - Very popular song, I heard it in the past but never paid much attention to it even though it was a great song. 6. Wonder Whats Next - Great song, powerful meaning! 7. Dont Fake This - A favorite of mine! 8. Forfeit - 'Strong' song... another song I can identify with at times.... the part "I want to fight...I want to prove I'm right..." My second favorite of the album! 9. Grab Thy Hand - Heavy rock song, but really killer! 10. An Evening With El Diablo - I have to say that this song is my favorite, I am suprised I haven't heard it more around! I've played this song countless times and it only gets better! 11. One Lonely Visitor - The album's only 'quiet' song... not much of a beat, but good for relaxing you after such a strongly rhythmed album. Aside from "One Lonely Visitor", each song has that 'head-bob' thing going with it. If you like a strong beat, and gutiar...or if you just like rock...don't hesitate at all to get this CD!!
