Rating: - Creed Teaches Us How They "Weathered" The Storm
I have enjoyed Creed's last two records very much. I enjoyed they positive message over a hard rock vibe. When "Human Clay" came out and they suddenly became all 'pop' due to "With Arms Wide Open," I began to lose interest. But, since I did enjoy most of that album and the first one I loved, I thought I'd check out 'Weathered.' I actually like this new one better than the last two. It's a lot heavier and has some attitude to it as well. I like the flare of "Bullets," and how lead singer Scott Stapp screams "I think they shoot cuz they want me." It's nice to begin the albums with a piercing song about all the bands' critics, and ending it with a tune called "Lullaby," a song to Scott's son. The quick and grungy "Freedom Fighter," reminds me of Alice In Chains, with it's sound. "Who's Got My Back," my favorite, is eight minutes and is awesome. It's like a Led Zeppelin song: long, beautiful and emotional. My other favorite, "Signs" is hard and kick-... all the way through, never slowing down. "One Last Breath" is the essence of Creed songs, sounding like a B-side from their first LP. It starts off slow and soft, then works it's way up into a hard hitting power ballad. "My Scarifice" is good, but it's just basic Creed fare, and sounds like previous hits, "One," and "Higher." "Hide" and "Don't Stop Dancing" are more mellow songs, but can still rock, with sensuous music and lovely lyrics. "Weathered" is blues-y and very personal (to Stapp anyway) and the other grunge-like song "Stand Here With Me" uses awesome vocals and pounding riffs. Overall, the album is teriffic. It blends hard rock and strings in some and then Indian chants and keyboards in the next. This is Creed's best and hardest, and let's pray that they can keep the streak alive. As much as Creed has it's fans and it's enemies, the band is still marvelous and comtinues to enlighten the hard rock community, even if they might be the weakest and the most commercial. Do yourself a favor if you enjoy hard rock with some softer moments: buy this baby!
Rating: - Creed continues to rock the world with a promising release!!
Weathered is an album that has blown me away! Considering all of the liberal critics blasting creed and saying "Weathered" is a waste of time, the band has continued to roll on. This album is a matured effort from the guys who produced two ground-breaking records. (human clay sold over 15 million, diamond status.) Tremonti shows a lot more talent by performing solos and playing incredible licks on the guitar. Scott Philips sounds great on drums( especially on Bullets!). Phillips used a different drumkit on every song giving an effect to each track. Once again Scott Stapp boasts his powerful and meaningful lyrics and wraps up the album in a classy style. This by far is the best Creed album in their history.1. Bullets-Real good, heavy sound, fast drumming. Listen for a kind of Tool sound to the song. 2. Freedom Fighter-I really like this one, it rocks, the classic Creed style of play. 3. Who's Got My Back- Killer cut, an epic song. Creed uses a Zeppelin style by bringing the song from soft to an exciting finish. ***Listen to Tremonti's talking guitar. 4. Signs-Awesome, it is a new sound, but good. 5. One Last Breath-Good softer song. For those who aprreciate WAWO, and Pity For A Dime. 6. My Sacrifice-Great song, but not my favorite. Overplayed but still some great riffs. 7. Stand Here With Me- My personal FAV. This song really brings out Stapp, Tremonti, and Phillip's talents. Great solo, and crisp drumming. 8. Weathered-good headbanger, classic creed 9. Hide-Another rockin tune, listen to stapp's vocal versatility. 10. Don't Stop Dancing- I like it, listen for Stapp's sister on the background lyrics 11. Lulluby- Good song, soft, again for those who like the softer approach. OVERALL A KICK-ASS ALBUM!!!!!! Anyone who agrees can tell those liberal headed critics to .........
Rating: - THE GREATEST MODERN ROCK MUSIC EVER CREATED!!
The very highly underated Creed strikes again with yet another great modern rock album.Fist thing i would like to discuss is the question "Is everyone listening to the same album!?" Because the reviews for this album are so awful that they made me hesitate in buying this brilliant album. Anyway it is probally just that the people who gave it 1 star listen to men wearing masks who scream and yell over out of tune, heavily distorted guitars and speed drums which have no rhythm in them and call it "music" (not mentioning any names)! Weathered takes a much heavier turn to creed's other two albums (My Own Prison and Human Clay). Starting with one of creed's heaviest ever "Bullets" and "Freedom Fighter" which both have some of the coolest riffs ever written by Mark Tremonti (the best guitarist since Kirk Hammet and Zakk Wylde). Then as you progress you get to my personal favorites "One Last Breath" "My Sacrafice" and "Stand here with me" then as the album wraps up you get the slow songs such as "Hide" "Don't Stop Dancing" and "Lullaby" wich demonstrates the talented voice of Scott Stapp's (which surpasses anything Eddie Vedor could have ever done with his voice). Combining the great voice of Scott Stapp with the truly brilliant guitar Mark Tremonti and the great percussion of drummer Scott Philips. You have the best modern rock album of all time. So if you are a true music fan and like true rock bands such as Metallica, Ozzy, Alice In Chains and Nirvana this album is for you. Don't let the people giving this album a bad wrap fool you. Go and Buy it if you don't already own this masterpiece! You won't be dissapointed
