This CD is definitely one of (perhaps *the*) best of Cirque. Much in the theme of the fall of Icarus of which the show is based on, many of the songs begin with spoken (English) dialogue with a musical background, often underlaid with whispers of a female singer. At first it seems a bit out of place with Cirque, yet after multiple listenings I wonder if the CD would carry the same depth if it had been without it. Altogether the CD has one of the most varied array of music of any Cirque CD. Beautiful is the only way to describe it.This disc will bring you to the edge of eternity and back, to the depths of your soul and the expanse of space. It expresses the greatest of joys, the deepest of sorrows, and most of all, the desire to feed the yearning for something more within us all. I recommend it to all fan of Cirque - old or new - without the slightest hesitation. Happy journeys!
Rating: - Buyer Beware: Doesn't do justice to the show!
Utterly thrilled after experiencing the very best of the four Cirque du Soliel shows I have seen live, I bought the soundtrack album on the way out to the parking lot. The music in the show was the most consistently thrilling and gripping of any Cirque show I have seen. Too bad this CD appears to be for a different show completely! Another friend of mine had an identical experience: putting the CD into the player as I drove out, and listening in bafflement as completely unfamiliar music played. Listening very carefully, I could identify a few melodies or rhythms that I remembered from the show, but there is only one track (#11, Oscillum) that really captures the energy and sound of the performance. The rest of the tracks use completely different arrangments and instruments, and omit one of the signature performers of the live show, the guy doing what sounded like Tuvan throat singing. I can only hope that eventually they will release a live album of the show, as they did for Mystere. Having said all that, if you haven't seen the show, this isn't a terrible album. It is somewhat reminiscent of later Dead Can Dance and the soundtrack to the movie Steam: lots of languid Middle Eastern percussion and singing.

No where near as good as Drallion or Quidam. Some Arabic and Indian influences in this CD but not enough to save it.
