Rating: - WOW!!!
WOW! this is such a great album. jason mraz is an incredibly talented singer and musician it really shows on this debut album. jason's voice is smooth-as-silk and his lyrics are likes reliving dreams. jason has a slew of live CDs that are avaiable though his website (jasonmraz.com), but this debut CD is what is going to push him over the edge. "You and I Both" is the first single, and it is a beautiful ballad. "The Remedy," which will probably be the second single is up-beat and borderline hip-hop :) other strong parts of the album include "not tonight, not again," "no stopping us," "curbside prophet," "sleep all day," and "absolutely zero." if great acoustic music is your thing, you are bound to enjoy jason. tour dates can also be found at the website (jasonmraz.com) and if he's coming anywhere near you, don't miss it!!! his live shows are incredible and you won't be disappointed!
Rating: - Start spreading the Mraz!
Whatup Music Lovers,This is the best new album and artist to hit the music scene in a while! Do you recall the upraise of artists like Jack Johnson and John Mayer these past couple years - well, in a matter of months JASON MRAZ is going to be on that list for sure. I personally like Jason's sound more than both John Mayer and Jack Johnson - and I've been a huge fan of both since day one. His music is just PURE BEAUTY, with an UNBELIEVABLE VOICE, a FUNNY and CONFIDENT stage presence, a CHARMING personality and guitar licks that will sooth any soul, Jason is a musician to love. I saw him open for Dave Matthews at the Gorge and, despite how amazing Waiting for My Rocket to Come is, his studio album will never do justice to his live performances. This album is a must have, and an even greater must is to see Jason live when he's anywhere near your hometown. I think in light of Tom Petty's new album, The Last DJ, he would join me in saying, "Finally, a talented musician who loves music a little bit more than money."
Rating: - The best new artist this year -- maybe this decade!
Although Jason Mraz has been on the scene in San Diego for some time, this is his first studio release. I have had the good fortune to see him perform at local venues on multiple occasions and have repeatedly been blown away by his talent, his stage presence and his insanely unique voice. I was a little afraid that a produced studio album would not adequately showcase this incredible talent. This album, while certainly different than seeing him live, adds a whole new dimension of sound to his songs. I have two things about this album that were somewhat disappointing: it's missing two of my favorite songs (0% Interest & Conversation with Myself) and the lack of visibility for Toca Rivera -- Jason's live percussion and harmonic companion. None-the-less, this is by far the best album I have bought this year. This is the most excited I've been about a new artist since I first saw Nickel Creek live two years ago. If you appreciate any of the following: Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Freestyle Rap, Folk, or Alternative Rock -- you won't be disappointed by the fusion of all of them. If this guy gets any radio watch out Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Glen Phillips...
