Average Rating:
Rating: - Best Fashion Magazine EVER!
I love this magazine! The little "YES" and "MAYBE" tabs are so fun and help you find your favorite outfits back where they get lost in other magazine. There are outfits for every budget, they tell you exactly where to get it, how much and provide phone and web address information. I also love the "fashion tips" section showing you the proper way to where certain fashion items, they even show you how NOT to wear them! Other than fashion for yourself, they also have other fun things, for example, one month it was on Japanese wines and this past month was fun accessories for the bedroom. Lucky is fun and has a lot to offer.
Rating: - Trendy Catalog
Lucky is filled with spreads of different styles of clothes, accessories, make-up, and home decor. If you are looking for absolutely anything else, you won't find it here. I do find it odd that this magazine actually costs money because mostly it just advertises things and tell you where to buy them. Lucky comes with a sheet of tab stickers that say 'yes' and 'maybe' to mark things that you are interested in buying. I had fun pulling them off and sticking them on things I'd like to have just like when I was a kid and I went through the toy catalog circling all the stuff I wanted. Some of the items featured in Lucky are reasonable priced, but most are not. Apparently Elton John has a line of candles that includes a 'Three hundred dollar one that's the size of a small water buffalo.' (Insert one of my 'yes' tab stickers here!) The styles do seem to be up to date and trendy, but the same information can usually be found in any other women's magazine in their advertisements, and in other magazines you actually get content. Lucky really is just a trendy catalog.
Rating: - If you like Allure, get Lucky!
I originally subscribed to Lucky (at a very low rate) because I knew it was by the same publishers as Allure and I got impatient waiting for my Allure once a month. Now it has a very valued place in my magazine collection. Not only is the layout very visually pleasing and fun to read, but the samples, coupons, contests and discounts will be worth more than the subscription cost. I would say there's an average of $5 in coupons from brands like Maybelline, Revlon and Almay each month. It really has something for everyone. It has fashion, beauty, spas and home decor. I myself love the skin and hair care & makeup trends. And the products featured are in a large price range from cheap to expensive. I found a great detangling conditioner from Origins in the pages, and in a large size it costs the same as drugstore brands--What a find!--and it really works. There are also advice columns so you can write in for your own beauty advice if you want. If you have ever wondered why your face creams cure wrinkles (or don't), then this magazine is for you. If you read a magazine to have fun and escape, Lucky is also for you--no articles about boyfriends, work (except what to wear), politics or social issues (unless they're trends)!
