Average Rating: Rating: - First time bread machine owner - Everytime Great Bread!!! Since Christmas, the Panasonic SD-YD250 has been baking excellent loaves. Being new to this, I went to the WEB for a very basic bread recipe. If you want excellent bread here's how from a novice bread machine owner: in this order; 1 1/4 cup tap water, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 2 TSP sugar, 1/4 cup canola oil (any vegetable oil) 2 cups loosely measured all purpose flour, 1 cup loosely measured whole wheat flour, and in the yeast dispenser, 2 tsp active dry yeast. Set up for Basic, Light crust, XL size. Absolutely nothing fancy in the recipe and the bread comes out full, golden crust, excellent texture and the taste is something I got use to immediately - full flavored fresh bread. The best basic bread I ever had. It even comes out perfect with the timer function. Mechanically this unit is solid and it stays in one place. I now keep up to 4 loaves in the freezer and the bread still tastes great. French Toasts are superb; sandwiches full of natural flavor, toast are crisp with a light center, perfect for butter or margarine. Warning, you will put on weight and so will everyone in your household. Rating: - Panasonic Rules You get what you pay for in this world and the Panasonic SD-YD250 is a perfect example. Quiet as a mouse. No jumping around the counter and whining and improperly mixing as a Breadman we purchased (and returned) did. Had another Panasonic for 8 years. Decided to replace it when the pan seal failed and we checked out the cost of a replacemtnt pan (not realizing we could replace just the paddle mechanism/seal.) Thought we could get by on the cheap with the Breadman. Wrong. If you are looking for a rock solid, flexible unit that turns out a perfect loaf time after time (up to 2.5 lbs), this is your bread machine. The automatic yeast dispenser is a great feature, particulary if you use the timer. Spend the [money]. Rating: - Awesome Bread Maker!!!! This year for Christmas, my husband gave me a Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker. My first bread maker was a Toastmaster that spent most of its time at the repair shop. I have made, with my Panasonic, a loaf of buttermilk, cheese, butter horn rolls, and cinnamon buns, each coming out to perfection. My family gobbles these loaves faster then I can bake them! You add the dry ingredients, cheeses, eggs and wet. The liquid ingredient water & milk do not have to be preheated! You place your cold liquids on top of the rest, close the lid, place the yeast in the dispenser and pick your settings. My old bread machine would almost rock off the counter during the kneading process. I have made 4 receipts containing 4 cups of white flour each, and I could not tell the machine was kneading the dough. It is so quite during the kneading cycle. The receipt book that is included uses oz rather than cups. That's OK! Find yourself a good bread machine cookbook. My bread machine Cookbook has a conversation chart for cups to oz's. I have not used the chart, because the receipts using cups come out fantastic! Find a cookbook that suits you! I love this machine!
