Average Rating: Rating: - Good design, extremely poor quality These knives are the right size, shape, and blade (serrated except for the very tip) for a myriad of cutting tasks. Similar knives cut everything from tomatoes to cheese perfectly, and my Wusthof version is the knife I use most because of how well it cuts everything. However, the Chinese craftsmanship of thse Sabatier knives is extremely poor. The handle material doesn't smoothly meet the metal, with a big gap where food will stick or the plastic pushed over the metal (which will wear off poorly). The metal blades are also often poor quality (different thicknesses, uneven surfaces, and even cracks). I ordered five as gifts, and even after exchanging the worst two I wind up with things I'm a little embarrassed to give. I love my Wushof version of this knife (the 5" serrated utility knife), and my girlfriend's Henkles version, but these Sabatier things are pieces of junk. The ones I returned even had a crack in one blade. These are cheap, as well as inexpensive. If you're looking for a quality knife look elsewhere. If you don't care about quality craftsmanship this is a useful type of knife, while it lasts. I'm giving mine away to firends who have no good knives, but I'm sure they'll get hooked on good knives and get their own that are far better than these. Rating: - Love it! I barely touched this knife as it slid through a tomato. My husband's not much of a cook, but I insisted he try it, too, which led to him making the whole salad! It's incredibly sharp, comfortable to hold and priced right, to boot! You won't be disappointed. Rating: - Review for Sabatier Elite Tomato/Bagel Knife This is an excellent buy for the price and quality. It cuts nicely and has good weight and balance. The finishing on the cutting edge can be a little better. My husband polished it lightly with a sandstone, so that is not a problem. I have another Sabatier tomato knife that cost me several times more 10 years ago. This is a great value for the quality.
