Average Rating: Rating: - Worth Every Penny With four children constantly making hot cocoa and instant oatmeal, the microwave was really getting a beating. Plus it is overhead, meaning the children had to reach up to get hot items out of the microwave. I decided a kettle (away from the stove) would grant them independence and me a little peace of mind. This kettle is by far the nicest one I've ever owned. I really shopped around (my last one was a dismal failure, only heating about half a teapot full of water at a time and lacking an auto shut-off). I love how it sits easily on the little electric connector and the light that indicates it is operating is very handy too. It makes a pleasant little ding (not very loud at all) when the water reaches boiling and it shuts off by itself. The water heats up very quickly too. I highly reccommend this item! Rating: - Outstanding! I feel a bit silly writing a review for a kettle but what a great design! The kettle removes from the base so you're not hampered by a cord. The cord wraps around under the base so you need only unwind the length of cord you need, thus saving counter space. The pot is still cool after the water boils so you can set it down anywhere. The bell rings and the light on the switch turns off when the water is boiled so you can hear or see when the water is boiled. (You can also see the water boil through the water level indicator window). It automatically shuts off so you don't have to hover over it. The unit feels balanced so when you have water in there it doesn't feel like you're going to drop it or twist your wrist. This product is much better than we expected. No more microwaving water and worrying about steaming it up and overflowing. With the Philips kettle, it's a one button push and then walk away. If you didn't get back to it when it was ready, just push the button again and start it boiling again. (There doesn't seem to be a mandatory delay). I received this as a wedding present (registered with Amazon.com) and love it. The reviews do it justice. Makes a great gift for tea drinkers, or instant coffee/oatmeal/cider/hot chocolate drinkers. Our unit is made in Poland but the one year warranty says to take it to the store you bought it from. Hopefully it won't be necessary! Rating: - Boils Much Faster Than Conventional Kettle This electric tea pot from Philips is one of the best investments that I have ever made for my kitchen. It is great for making tea or press-pot coffee. There is a light on the power button, and an alert bell that dings when the water is done boiling. However, you can not trust the measurements on the side. I measured the water level once in a very accurate measuring cup, and found that sometimes, the side measurements are up to 1.5 cups off the real amount!
