I have worked as an Executive Chef in Clubs and Resorts for over 25 years and while I thought this deal was too good to be true for the price, I still purcjased it for my home. I actually found them to be of exceptional quality for an exceptional value! I have a good set of the , so the other reviewer says, "Store Quality" knives and find THIS set to be superior! Don't get me wrong. They don't compare to my set at my establishemnt but, I have close to [$$$$] invested it those tools! You do get EXACTLY what you pay for here! An excellent set of knives for your home! Rating: - Great set for the price. I hesitated for months before making this purchase, due to the number of bad reviews this item received. Finally, I decided to risk it. I was moving into a new house, and at [$$$], I didn't think I could go far wrong. I was right. In fact I am very pleased with this purchase. I am mostly familiar with bad knives, but I have come across a knife by Henckel, and these are not far off. They are solid, heavy knives, and sliced a tomato cleanly, right out of the box. While these knives might not be up to Sabatier's usual standards they are certainly worth what I paid for them, and then some. I have had no rust problems, but then again I followed the instructions on the box (hand wash them and dry them immediately, and use a wooden cutting board). I look forward to seeing how well they sharpen up. Rating: - Excellent VALUE I cook a lot and have gotten by for years with a set of no-name knives. I'm not rich so I was happy with what I had, until I saw this deal. Reading some of the damning posts made me skeptical, but I bought the set anyway. These knives are better than I expected and are well worth the money (and then some). I would have paid as much just for chef's knife. Unless you're a filthy-stinking-rich pro chef, don't be dissuaded from taking advantage of this deal. I noticed that some negative reviewers didn't buy this exact set and I think that makes them unqualified to review this item. Maybe their set stinks, maybe they paid a lot more. Whatever, this is a tremendous bargain--go for it!
