I have used every conceivable type of coffee maker in the past, but this one is simply the best I have ever used. It is beautiful to look at, very easy to use and clean, and makes the best cup of coffee I have ever tasted. I ordered the electric version of this brand, but when it arrived, it had a defect, so I returned it immediately. I am so happy I didn't order the electric one because it was twice the amount of money that I paid for the non-electric one. I am going to tell all my friends about it--unfortunately you can't buy it in any stores, only through Amazon.com. Congratulations on carrying this absolute gem of a coffee maker!! Not I but I ordered this product because I have been extremely pleased with the Bodum French Press coffee maker I have. I did not believe any other method could beat the French Press. I am not exactly a coffee geek but I purchased this item based on the Bodum name and reputation and also having heard that the vacuum method makes the most tasty cup. I love this coffee system; indeed it makes a delicious cup of coffee (see the title of this review!). Using the system on my electric range, the coffee began to steep after exactly 11 minutes and had completely run its way back into the carafe after four minutes more. Maybe this takes a wee bit longer than an auto-drip, but man, the difference in your cup will amaze you. The coffee smelled so rich and fresh I was afraid at first that something had gone wrong! Then after I tasted it I knew that, no, everything was juuust right. Cleanup is a snap even when washing by hand. I appreciate having made this purchase because of quality and ease of use, and thanks also to you, Amazon.com, for getting it here quickly with FREE super saver shipping--even during the last few days before Christmas, my purchase arrived within five little days.
