Rating: - more compatible
I had problems with the SanDisk 128MB SD card in a Sharp VEC-G40U digital camera, so I tried the Lexar. It works perfectly, and lets me hold about 100 4 megapixel pictures in JPG format. It does what it supposed to do, and Lexar guarentees compatibility.
Rating: - Getting the best memory cards -- Lexar Media
I have been shooting digital for the past 5 years -- I would never give up my digital cameras, because I love the instant gratification that they bring. Through the years, I have owned a Kodak DC240, an Epson PhotoPC 800 and I currently use my Canon S100 Digital Elph and Sony CyberShot for fun and my HP 315 for real estate Web sites. Having all those cameras, I have a bunch of different compact flash cards and a couple memory sticks. I always thought that there were no differences -- I had no-name brand cards, a Kingston card, some company-branded cards -- until I bought a 128 MB Lexar CF card and a 128 MB Lexar Memory Stick. NOT ALL CARDS ARE MADE EQUALLY! With the Lexar cards, the pictures wrote to the card much, much faster, allowing me to shoot more photos and get that perfect shot (hopefully). I took the Digital Elph and the Lexar card to Italy for XMas last year, and was able to shoot more than 100 photos on the card, "burning" through the images quickly so I could get the next shot. This year, I took my Sony CyberShot to Colorado for XMas and was able to burn through a bunch of photos getting the great shot for my holiday cards. Why could I take more pictures, faster with my Lexar Media card? Lexar offers three different speeds for cards that make them great for photographers of all levels -- 4X, 12X and 24X (think of the X as the same write speeds as a CD burner, with the faster the better). -- The 24X cards come with something called Write Acceleration technology that increases the write speed to the memory card, to allow the photog to shoot faster and better. And, the nice thing about my Memory Stick is that it has a flashing light that lets me know the card is being written to. Before, I've pulled the card out to switch cards and wrecked pictures. I also just bought the Lexar card reader -- I have an all-in-one to use for both my CompactFlash cards and my Memory Sticks. If you buy a digital camera, the ONLY way to go is to buy a card reader. Yes, you can hook up your camera to the computer, but it's so much easier to just swap a card into the reader, and print some photos online. I prefer to use Shutterfly for my online photo prints.
