Rating: - Everything you could want in a mouse
I have been using this mouse for a month since I got it for Christmas and seems pretty much perfect to me. I got it as a present so I can't comment on the price. The features: 1. Optical - no more ball collecting lint 2. Cordless - cleaner desktop 3. Recharging stand - no batteries needing replacement 4. extra mouse buttons - I have not found these useful myselfI like the feel of the mouse and use in both hands and find it acceptable in my left hand as well as my right.
Rating: - For gamers ...
I have read a lot about the incompatibility of this mouse with several games. Here are a few hints that could make things a lot easier,1. Don't install the software that comes with it. I plugged in the mouse on my windows XP PC, and the mouse works just fine. The only button that would not work without the included software is the one on the center on top of the mouse. Since all this does is toggle between application, it not a big deal (you can use ALT-TAB for the same function). If you really feel the need to customize the buttons, wait for the latest software fixes/updates from logitech. 2. Don't throw away your favorite corded mouse. During gaming (heavy use), the mouse only lasts for about 6-7 hours on a charge. As this mouse runs out of power (needing recharging) you may need your corded mouse still plugged-in handy, if you are in the middle of some action. 3. The mouse feels very different at first, making you want to puke at throwing away you hard earned money. Be patient, this mouse takes time to get used to, and once you get used to it you'll love it! It is so precise, try sniping while running/strafing, you will never go back to your old mouse. The mouse is a little heavier due to the batteries, but since the mouse is so precise you can set it at high sensitivity (you'll get used to it) and you won't have to move it much. I personally like the "weighty" feel of the mouse, reminds me of the good 'ol mouse with a heavy rollerball underneath. This an excellent mouse and well worth it with the $20 rebate.
Rating: - Many people don't notice the error in the manual
I see a lot of reviews talking about the need to have 20 inches of space away from electronic devices for the base. Don't be scared. The manual is wrong. It's actually only 8 inches - 20 centimeters. The in/cm values are switched in the illustration. I'm surprised so few people noticed this error since 8cm would be a whole lot less than 20 inches.Other than that, I fully agree with most of the reviews. This is a fantastic mouse - great fit, great response, and I even prefer the weight of it over my old Intellimouse Explorer. The only problems I've had have been with the MouseWare drivers. Even version 9.75 (available from Logitech's website) didn't fix the use of the middle mouse button in Mozilla 1.2.1 for launching new tabs. It just absolutely would not work unless I uninstalled MouseWare altogether. So, until that's fixed, I'm going without their additional features (and losing the functionality of a few buttons with it).
