This book had changed my life. Because I have read it, I am happier, my home is squeaky clean and my life is so much simpler and organized. I have never been know to be a neat person and my husband and friends are amazed by my new habits. Flylady taught me that a few daily and simple routines make a huge difference in my family's way of living. This book is worth every penny.. Can you really put a price on having an enriched quality of life? Oh, also it's easy to read and funny!
Rating: - Flylady is excellent!
Flylady is wonderful. In simple, easy steps, she guides us to getting our houses (or apatments, in my case) clean and organized and de-cluttered. A little at a time, start small and slowly add to your routine. It's great. None of this 'all at once' stuff we all feel we need to do. As I've followed her, I've found that my apartment stays neat and clean, and I hardly feel like I'm doing anything at all. I'm a lifetime messy, so my apartment being clean for more than a few days is a record. Thank you, Flylady!
Rating: - Put Your Home in Order and Turn Your Life Around
For some people, this may be yet another book that they buy in hopes of finding some miracle solution for helping them clean their messy homes. But unless you put the suggested routines in place and actually get off your "franny" and do something, this book will not be the cure. However, if you are truly ready to learn to love your home and yourself, this book is for you. What I loved about Sink Reflections was the fact that it seemed like Marla Cilley was talking directly to me. She doesn't berate the reader for being a slob, but instead explains how the perfectionism that some of us strive for actually stands in the way of our progress. We have to learn to take "baby steps" and do a little bit at a time and be happy with our progress, even if it is slow. Although some of the suggestions, like always wearing lace-up shoes, and shining your sink may seem silly and pointless, once you begin doing this, you will see how much of a difference these things make. One of the biggest helps I found in the book was the concept of decluttering. I have always been a pack rat, saving things I might be able to use someday or feeling like I had to hold onto stuff because I spent money on it. The FlyLady system inspired me to get rid of so much stuff that it has been easier to keep the house much cleaner just by donating or throwing away items I no longer loved or needed. And finally, the biggest thing that the FlyLady teaches us in Sink Reflections is that it's all about your attitude. You have to believe that you are worth it and that you want and deserve a clean and happy home. It's amazing how all the other chaos in your life (finances, scheduling, relationships) also begin to fall into place, just by applying some of the principles found in this book. Get the book. Read it. And then begin your flight. You won't be disappointed.
