Average Rating: Rating: - Just the seat we needed for our large 2 1/2 year old Just purchased 2 of these seats for my large 2 1/2 year old. We already have the Cosco Alpha Omega seats, which we had been using with the five-point harness. Now that she is 40 lbs., we needed to use a belt-positioning booster, and even though the Alpha Omega seats can be used as boosters, they have poor reviews by Consumer Reports when used as boosters. The only style booster that Consumer Reports gave a high rating on is this style belt positioner (which is also used on the Fisher Price discontinued seats and the Britax seats). I found one Fisher Price model left in a store, but it was a floor model & also didn't have cup holders, nor was it height adjustable. Britax was too expensive & didn't seem to be any better than this new Graco model. So, we just put the Graco model in the car & the very first day took a 2 1/2 hour trip. My daughter did great! We're still working on getting her to keep the seat belt positioned correctly & not pull it under arms, but that's no fault of the seat, but just her age! She slept comfortably in the seat & also loved the cupholders. Thank you Graco for an affordable, great booster option! (Note that you can get more info on the different patterns & choices - 2 versions of padding - and where each is carried, on the Graco website) Rating: - So great we bought two! My husband and I are so happy with this seat that we ended up getting another one! Our son will turn six next month - he weighs 40 lbs and is average height. This seat works great for him and the hidden cup holders come in handy for toys, drinks, etc. We were switching the seat constantly from our truck and car because after using this seat we did not want to bother with our other carseat (a forward facing one that can be a booster without the 5 point harness). Unfortunaltely sometimes my husband would leave for work with the carseat and my son would have to go without it (I do family child care and needed the old seat for a toddler). We decided our son's life is too important to let him just ride unsafely in the seatbelt (he is to light for other seatbelt contraptions) so we went and bought another one of these seats. It is a great investment and even if you have to move the seat between cars it is very light weight and easy to handle. Plus my son is comfortable and feels more like a grown up in this seat. Rating: - Bought 1 Star Riser, now buying 3 new Graco belt positioning We bought one Star Riser before Graco came out with their new one in Sept. If you need to adjust your booster head rest height often (for example - if you often drive other people's children and use your absent child's booster), you'll definitely want the Graco. The Britax one adjusts, but you have to take the seat out of the car, unzip the back, push in some buttons and pull on the top. Graco is MUCH easier. The smooth operation of the belt positioning is a critical feature -- and both Britax and Graco work great! Another friend bought Britax and had to return it because the top head rest was so narrow that her daughter's side ponytails pushed against her head. The Graco one was much more comfortable for her. Plus Graco has cupholders and the same narrow base as the Britax. Bottom Line: I've been a fan of Britax for years (we've had the Roundabout car seats for years) -- but Graco has the same (or better) great safety and convenience features at half the price of Britax Star Riser! My younger child and our 2nd car need boosters - all three will be Graco Belt Positioning.
